E=Mc2 H2O and all that Jazz

~Botany is in the air~
Spring is for Science and we have had some Mad Scientist's in the house. First we will start with a little chemical reaction that creates a beautiful mini-garden.

Add:
2T Table Salt
2T Liquid Bluing
2T Ammonia
2T Water
Pour over some cut-up sponges or other porous material and voila'! A beautiful crystal garden made of deadly chemicals right in the convenience of your own home.

Aubree grew these crystals from scratch. They are so sparkly that I am thinking of wearing them and starting a new trend. Maybe I will market them on Etsy---they could be earrings! Yes! Science marries fashion.

Micro-biology = the little-bity-icky-commitee
Bio-luminescent bacteria /a.k.a. --- e.coli on steroids (glow in the dark bacteria). It is awesome to look at and I think we saw a culture of Casseopia sitting there in the petri-dish. The kids also got a chance to look at other kinds of bacteria while visiting Snow College. You would be interested to know how much bacteria actually lives inside of your body, but I don't want to disturb anyone's rest tonight so that will be for another time.

Biology = bio-meaning life
ogy- meaning study of
Conundrum here....why do you always dissect something dead to study life?
Because the live frog would hop away from the shiny, sharp knife? ba-dum-bum

Dissecting a frog is fun to do, fun to do, to do, to do!

GET THAT CORNEA OUT OF MY FACE!
Zooolgy is a no-brainer because it's always a zoo at our house.

Which is the following picture?
Cumulus, Cirrus, Stratus, Cumulonimbus, or...
Really cool crystals that could either look like clouds
or an under water coral from the Great-Barrier Reef.

Shoot for the stars and you will find...an airless void of black nothingness...or maybe
****Qui-Gon Jin ****

(a Star Wars Character for you non-star wars people)
(I am a S.W.person by default...I have learned their insidious names from repeatedly stepping on the Lego versions of them. This leads to threats of decapitation before quartering and then burning of the aforesaid character. With pleas of mercy on behalf of the evil-demon-Lego, the villianious-plastic is then given "one more chance" and put away....but I digress)

Happy Spring and good luck finding interesting bugs with lovely exo-skeleton's and non-poisonous bites.

Education at its finest.
My girls want to join the crystal club. Oh how they've treasured their sparkly strings Aubree gave them. Brynn would like to be in on the jewelery line.
