Words from the Williams
Talon returned from the Santa Rosa California Mission on May 27, 2014. He loved his mission and his time serving the Lord. Less than a week of being back home, Talon found a job working as a flagger and pilot driver for a road construction crew. Plus he worked nights at the Hampton Inn as a desk clerk, so it was a busy summer that went by very quickly; however, before the summer was over, he chose to join the Utah National Guard and will be heading off to his training in July, but for now, he now calls Provo home and attends BYU majoring in International Relations and works as a tutor in a boys home. If you ask him what the best thing about BYU is, he'd answer--all the pretty girls.
Aubree graduated with high honors from South Sevier High School in May. She had a busy year as the yearbook editor, 4-H Teen Leader, National Honor Society, completing college classes, applying for scholarships, and working as a manager at Bullies Drive Inn. She chose to stay close to home and is attending Snow College in Ephraim. She did great her first semester and is loving college life!
Raina turned sweet 16 in March. She had the opportunity to participate in cross country, attend honor choir, and went to a leadership conference in Provo (HOBY) which she absolutely loved because it taught her the value and beauty of living a life filled with purpose and service. Her dream came true this fall when she was able to perform as Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. It was the perfect part for her and she absolutely loved it.
Brandt turned 13 and plays basketball. That about sums up his life. :) He won 3 gold medals at the Utah Summer Games, hiked 50 miles with the boy scouts, and won 1st place in his cross country races. Needless to say, he loves to play and he plays hard. Speaking of plays, Brandt went to his first Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City and has become a big fan of the bard! We laughed until our sides split during The Comedy of Errors.
Laura has had some great opportunities as she now works for Utah State University, and Sevier School District as a liaison for the UPSTART-preschool program. It's been fun meeting cute little four year old's and being involved with the Waterford Institute. For USU, I teach parenting and relationship classes at the county jail, Department of Workforce Services, and in the community. I absolutely love it and hope that is can help strengthen the families in our area. In addition, I still teach for Leadership Education Academy which is an online school. My favorite subjects to teach are: Shakespeare, Geo-Trekkers, Science Explorers, Voyagers of History, Great Expectations, Beautiful Girlhood---and well, basically everything I teach is my favorite!! I LOVE the kids and have so much fun getting to know them.
Chad is still in drug court, but he's not on the wrong side of the law. :) He's also established a mental health court in our area which has been a great benefit for many families here in Sevier County. Chad's going on 5 years as the team leader for Central Utah Counseling and also enjoys coaching basketball. He led Brandt's all star team to a 2nd place finish in our region which was fun. A major highlight for Major Chad Williams (retired) was when he had the opportunity to don his uniform once again to swear in Private 1st Class Talon H. Williams to the Utah National Guard.
It's been a wonderful year and we look forward to 2015.
