We had a fun adventure this weekend! George Wythe University was hosting a ground-breaking ceremony for their new campus, so we spent a day in Monticello. It is a pretty area.
Mesa Verde was amazing. It was interesting to learn how the people lived, what they ate, and about their community and culture. For stone-age people with no technology, they built an incredible community.
We learned about their kiva's and sipapu's where they held religious ceremonies and council meetings. They had a matriarchal society, so the women owned all the property and made the marriage decisions. I liked that part.
We got rained on during our last tour, but it was nice to have Earth Mother make the air smell so clean.
How far away is that? I tried to look up some maps but I couldn't really tell which part of the park the ruins were in. I want to go there some time. I remember seeing pictures of that place before and my family was saying that we would go there sometime, but they never have. Maybe they would want to go this fall or next year.
